LakePoint Sports: A Premier Venue Puts Streaming Front and Center

LakePoint Sports is one of the country’s premier travel and youth sports destinations. The 1,300-acre campus north of Atlanta hosts more than 30 sports and draws roughly 2.4 million visitors a year. Basketball, volleyball, and futsal are housed in the 170,000-square-foot Champions Center, soccer and lacrosse take the Publix Fields, and beach volleyball has its own ten-court pavilion. There are also eight Major League-sized fields to accommodate America’s pastime.

Club teams and elite youth athletes travel in from across the country for national tournaments to play in front of sold-out crowds. But families who can’t be there still want to watch from home. LakePoint already had the livestreams. They just needed to be easier to find and use.

The campus was operating at a championship level. The website had everything a visitor needed, but not always in the right place. That’s when LakePoint handed us the ball.

A Strong Site That Was Ready for More

LakePoint came to us with a thriving, nationally-recognized business. The campus was buzzing, the reputation was strong, and the site held a lot of genuinely useful information. A few parts of it had outgrown their original setup, and we were brought in to bring them up to speed.

We focused on a few specific areas:

  • The homepage was due for a refresh. It had most of the information LakePoint wanted, but it no longer reflected the scale and energy of the blossoming campus.
  • Content had spread out over time. News, press releases, and Champions Insider features lived in different corners of the site.
  • Streaming services were hard to operate. The live broadcasts already existed, but they lived on different platforms, so fans couldn’t always tell where or how to watch.

On the last point, LakePoint streams events live across the campus, from the courts inside the Champions Center to Baseball Village. It has offered live broadcasting and video on demand for years. The catch was getting grandma, grandpa, and other friends or family where they needed to go as easily as possible, even if they weren’t tech savvy or on a super fast connection.

Bringing the Site Up to Game Speed

Starting from scratch is one thing, but not everything needs replacing on many site rebuilds. LakePoint’s content was well-written and up-to-date, so our job was to keep what was working and make it all easier to find. We built on the content from the existing site rather than starting over, and our design team reshaped the experience to match the caliber of the campus.

Some of the most important work happened where visitors never see it. The site was already pulling around 100,000 visitors a month, and a campus that busy needs hosting that can grow with it. As the crowds kept climbing, we scaled the hosting right along with them, moving from a shared server to a dedicated one, and today the site runs on a Clockwork care plan where we handle updates and security in the background.

The rebuild also came with a fresh tech stack and a cleaner set of plugins, which sped the whole site up along the way. That extra headroom is part of what lets the new homepage carry so much more motion and graphics. Now, a parent checking a score or finding a feed never waits on a slow page, whether it’s a quiet Tuesday or a packed championship Saturday.

Putting the Streams Front and Center

We built a “Now Streaming” system that handles the wayfinding for fans looking to tune into the games. A live indicator sits in the corner of every page, and individual event cards light up when their game is on the air, pointing visitors straight to the right platform.

Whether a team is on the court or the field at the sprawling Lakepoint campus, the route to the broadcast is always in an easily accessible place. Families no longer have to hunt for the feed.

The part we’re really proud of is the automation running underneath that system. Streaming games open and close on their own schedule, so we built the indicators to switch on when an event goes live and switch back off when it wraps. The game is now always just a few clicks away, and it is easy to see which events are happening.

For LakePoint’s team managing the site, nobody has to remember to flip a toggle at 8 am on a Saturday. The site keeps pace with the action on its own, and makes it easier to manage.

What’s an automated streaming indicator? Think of it as a light switch that flips itself. We tied the site’s event schedule to the “Now Streaming” badges, so the moment a game’s streaming window opens, the badge appears and links straight to the feed. When the window closes, the badge turns off.

Tidying Up the Deep Roster of Content

We pulled the scattered news, press releases, and Champions Insider stories into one filterable news hub, so a parent hunting for a recap lands on it in a click or two.

The campus runs camps, leagues, summer camps, and activities across a long list of sports, and those programs sit on a custom post type structure, the same WordPress backbone we use to keep a busy, multi-sport schedule organized.

If management wants to open a new pickleball camp or futsal league, they can slot it in without anyone touching code. We also gave the facilities clearer names along the way, because “Beach Volleyball” tells you more at a glance than an internal shorthand ever would.

A Homepage That Sets the Tone

Then came the redesign. We rebuilt the homepage and broader site around a cleaner hierarchy and shifted the palette toward the navy and gray the team preferred. We kept enough color in play to match the energy of a game day. The homepage sets the tone for everything that follows, so the design choices we made here carry through the rest of the site, and a visitor who lands on it knows what to expect from every page after.

The stats we opened with display as a stat bar showing the 4.8 guest rating, the 2.4 million annual visitors, and the 30-plus sports the moment a visitor arrives. The homepage only gets a few seconds to tell a newcomer who LakePoint is and give them a reason to trust what they’re seeing, and that stat bar does a lot of the introducing before anyone scrolls.

From there, every part of the page got a lane of its own. Upcoming events and live streams sit up top, the campus map gives travelers their bearings across 1,300 acres, and the partnerships offer social proof without feeling self-serving. The Publix partnership, a genuine point of pride for LakePoint, landed a special spot in the campus section instead of getting lost in the mix.

The events calendar got the same attention. The redesign gave it a cleaner, more readable layout that makes upcoming tournaments easier to take in at a glance. It is one area the team plans to keep building on, and even now the step up from the old setup is easy to see.

Ready for the Next Tournament

The new LakePoint Sports site keeps up with everything happening on campus (and vice versa). Families across the country can find the broadcast without texting someone for the link, whether they’re watching a volleyball qualifier or a baseball final.

On LakePoint’s side of managing the website, the team publishes news without weeding through three different content types with the new custom post types. And because they run on hosting infrastructure we host and monitor, the next big event is one less thing to worry about.

Here is what changed for LakePoint.

  • Streaming now points fans to the right feed on its own, with live indicators that switch on and off automatically.
  • News, Press Releases, and Champions Insider features all live in one filterable hub instead of scattered archives.
  • The homepage looks the part, with cleaner design, clearer hierarchy, and sponsors showcased with care.

When a Winning Site Needs a Fresh Lineup

Not every website rebuild starts from scratch. We helped LakePoint keep a winning roster and bring in fresh legs only where the lineup needed them. They had the venue, the tournaments, and the audience, so our job was to make the digital part as polished as the in-person one. Now a fan can land on the site and find the game in seconds, which is exactly how it should be.

If your business is at the top of its game, your website should make it even better. Let’s talk.
